Update (Feb 12, 2015): We are happy to report that the WWDITS Kickstarter campaign was successfully funded. A total of $446,666 was pledged by Rubicon Labs and 7,203 other backers. The film will soon open in over 70 cities in the United States. Congrats to the directors and everyone involved!

Each year, Rubicon Labs allocate a part of its budget to support independent creative professionals and tech innovators on crowdfunding sites.

Today, we would like to bring your attention to the Kickstarter campaign to bring the independent film from New Zealand, What We Do in the Shadows, to the United States.

You may know the creators behind this “Vampire documentary”, Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, from their work on the Flight of the Conchords series. At the time of this writing, the movie is rated 7.6/10 on IMDB and 93% on the Tomatometer. They have met about 80% of their funding goal, with only 3 days left to go!

We were lucky enough to have seen this movie at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival where it won the prestigious People’s Choice Award, and, in our opinion, it is easily the best comedy of 2014! It deserves far wider distribution and more success than it has achieved so far.
